Flying Camps
Whether you're a student looking to join an upcoming flying camp or a club looking to host a flying camp - this page is for you! YGNZ supports both youth and clubs in attending and hosting flying camps throughout New Zealand by providing subsidised flying, logistical support, promotion, documentation and supervisory support where required.
Types of Camps

Mini Camps
Hosted by a club and often over a long weekend throughout the year. Mini camps are a great way to get to know other youth pilots and make good progress on your flying skills with 2 or more consecutive days of learning.
Duration: 1-3 Days
Size: 3 to 10 students
Catering: Generally self catering
Accomodation: Most airfields have onsite accomodation options e.g. Caravans, Cabins or somewhere to pitch a tent

Youth Soaring Development Camps
Hosted by a club and typically held during the summer school holidays when flying conditions are best. These camps provide youth with an opportunity to make significant progress on their flying skills and often youth leave having made new life long friends.
Duration: 4-10 Days
Size: 10 to 30 students
Catering: Parents / Support Crew Cater Meals
Accomodation: Onsite accomodation e.g. Caravans, Cabins or camping in a tent
Camp Funding
As a general rule, YGNZ will allocate funding for reimbursing to a student’s bank account using the following guide:
$35 per youth, per flying day, up to a maximum dollar-for-dollar match.
Funding is allocated on a pro rata basis according to each student’s flying account activity. For example, the more you fly and the larger your flying account, the greater your share of YGNZ support, up to the dollar-for-dollar match limit.
YGNZ reimburse applicants once they have paid their flying account.
YGNZ may make adjustments to this formula on a case-by-case basis. YGNZ funds must only be used towards flying accounts.
